Volleyball vs. Valley Forge

The 7th grade Girls Volleyball team played some of their best volleyball of the season yesterday but were defeated in two games by a tough Valley Forge team.  The girls did an incredible job of moving to the ball and communicating with each other.  Great passing by Gladia Boldt!  The 8th grade team also played extremely well and were victorious in 3 close games.  They showed tremendous hustle and refused to let any balls hit the floor on our side.  Excellent job Lady Dragons!

115 Pound Football VS Drexel Hill Middle School

The 115 pound football team lost to Drexel Hill Middle School today 26-8.  The dragons gave up 18 straight points leading up to the middle of the third quarter.  This was impressive considering that the team was playing with only 16 players.  Even though they gave up three touchdowns before scoring their own, the defense made sure that the two point conversions were no good.  Max Pugh scored a touchdown on a 40 yard run to put the Dragons on the scoreboard.  There was a penalty on the ensuing 2 point conversion that pushed the Dragons back to the Raiders 15 yard line.  On the next play Max Pugh ran the ball in for a 2 point conversion bringing the score to 18-8 Drexel Hill.  The Dragons got the ball back a few plays later on an interception, and the offense started driving the ball down the field and got to Drexel Hill’s 30 yard line, but then lost the ball on a fumble.  The Raiders drove down the field for a touchdown and 2 point conversion.  Time ran out on the Dragons, but they played their hearts out, and the game was closer than the score indicated.

Wrestling Season Information

Wrestling season is just around the corner!  My name is Coach Barone, and this is my 8th overall season coaching the Dragons, and 7th as the head coach.  The wrestling team is open to 7th and 8th graders.  Please make sure that your child has a completed physical form for the start of the season.  Practice will be everyday until 5:15PM.  If a change is made, it will be posted on the athletic website, and can even be notified by email alert.

The team will provide protective head gear and a uniform.  The student is responsible for providing wrestling shoes and practice clothes.  Appropriate practice gear consists of a t-shirt, sweatshirt, or long sleeve athletic shirt for the upper body and athletic shorts or sweatpants for the lower body.  Jeans, clothes with zippers, cargo shorts, clothes with buttons, and street shoes are not to be worn  at practice.  If a wrestler has braces, a mouth guard must be worn that covers upper, lower, or both sets of braces.  If the wrestler has long hair, a scull cap must be worn to cover their hair.

Last year, the team met numerous times outside of practice and match time for team bonding.  The team went bowling twice last year, and also took a trip to Arnolds Go Kart in Oaks.  These get togethers were a great way for the teammates to bond with one another, and we hope to have more events this year as well.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me through email at baroner@lmsd.org.

Looking forward to another great season!

Coach Barone
