Welsh Valley 8th Grade Girls’ Soccer Contract

Welsh Valley Dragons 8th Grade Girls’ Soccer

Coach Pike

Welcome to the 2013 girls’ soccer season.  I am excited and enthusiastic for a positive and productive season.  In order to have a successful year, the following rules will apply to All players.  Please read the rules with your parents/guardians.  Return the signed contract to coach before our 3rd practice on Friday, September 13th.

Wv Dragons Team Rules:

1. Practice & Attendance:

-The practice schedule (days & times) will be posted weekly on the WV Athletics website (wvdragons.digitalsports.com).  Practice begins at 3:25 promptly & ends either at 4:20 or 5:20 p.m.  If players’ rides are not present at 4:25/5:25, they will be placed on the 4:30 or 5:30 busses home- No Exceptions. This is a campus rule as well as a LM district-wide policy that must be followed by all to ensure the safety of all student-athletes.

-Attendance: Players must attend practice regularly.  A note must be written by a parent/guardian to excuse necessary absences (doctor appointments, weekly Religious school, etc.).  If you are absent from school or sent home by the nurse, you do not have to provide a note.  Coaches receive a daily email with the updated attendance lists.  Unexcused absences will be recorded and will jeopardize your participation during games.

2. Games:

-For away games, the buses return to Welsh Valley after the 5:30 busses (on most occasions).  Players must arrange rides home the night before, and we ask that parents please be at school (lower bus circle near gym) by 5:45pm for pick up.  Please be considerate and do not make your coaches wait for your ride!  You may get a ride home from the away field with another player’s parent ONLY if you have submitted written permission from your parents ahead of time. If player’s rides are not at school and coaches have to wait, players will be suspended from the next game, home or away.

3.  Academic & Behavioral Expectations:

-Academics are your first priority.  You must keep up with your schoolwork and maintain passing grades to remain eligible to practice and play in games.  Detentions and other school behavioral issues can also affect your participation.  All athletes are expected to engage their peers, family, the opponent, fans, and all Wv staff members with respect, as your actions represent the entire team.

I look forward to a fun and successful season –

Welsh Valley 8th Girls Soccer Expectations

WELSH VALLEY 8th GIRLS SOCCER

Team Guidelines / Coach Expectations- COACH PIKE

  • Practice begins at 3:25 promptly & ends either at 4:20 or 5:20 p.m.  If you are late to practice, you owe the team 2 laps around the track.
  • If you need to prepare for practice/running in regard to a medical reason (asthma, etc.), do so at 3:05 / while changing / or before 3:25.
  • If an injury/ailment occurs during practice, notify the coach.  You may be asked to visit the nurse’s office, and possibly sit out the remainder of practice.  This is to ensure your safety.
  • All players must attend, and participate at practice – until practice ends.
  • If you must miss practice, please submit a note from a parent/guardian to coach before.
  • During practice, all players will join the team in drills, running, cleaning up the field and putting away equipment.  If coach decides a player is being a detriment to practice, that athlete will be placed on the 4:30 bus to go home.
  • During games, players will engage and cheer on their teammates, on the sideline.  Players are not permitted to wander the campus, socialize with fans, or sit away from the team.
  • In order to be successful, all players will give 100% effort AND attention during all practices and games.
  • Playing time in games is determined through a few components;

– attendance – attitude – effort – skill – competitiveness – cooperation –

  • Athletes are not permitted to ask for playing time during a game.  If players become a disruption to the coach, they will not enter/return into the game.
  • Be responsible, accountable, and respectful.  If you agree to follow these simple rules, then you will have an enjoyable and hopefully successful 8th grade season.  If not, remove yourself from the team.
  • Welsh Valley Athletics promote character development … The 6 pillars of character are:

– Integrity – respect – sportsmanship – hard work – responsibility – citizenship –

GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON !

Welsh Valley Athletics Transportation Policy

Please review the Transportation Policy for home and away games and practices.

Welsh Valley Athletic Transportation Policy

Below you will find our Athletics’ Transportation Policy for the 2013/14 athletic seasons.  Please review the policy and contact Megan Kiczek, athletic director, if you have further questions.

AWAY Athletic Contests:

  • All student athletes are expected to travel both to and from away athletic contests on the assigned school bus with their team.  We encourage parents/guardians to make prior arrangements and schedule accordingly to help facilitate this expectation.

  • If circumstances arise where a student athlete must leave the away contest early and/or be picked up by a parent/guardian at the finish of the away contest; a face-to-face encounter should take place between you, the parent/guardian, and the designated team coach before the student athlete will be released to you.

  • If someone other than you, the parent/guardian, will be picking up your student athlete from an away contest a written permission note, signed by you, must be received by the designated coach.  Please complete the attached form and provide it to the coach prior to the scheduled contest.

HOME Athletic Contests & Practice:

  • All student athletes are expected to depart campus following a home contest or practice by 5:30p.m.
  • If a student athlete is NOT utilizing the district 5:30 p.m. late bus, their arranged transportation home must be on campus prior to 5:30 p.m.  If the arranged transportation is not present at 5:30 p.m. the assigned athletic coach is to direct the student athlete to take the appropriate district late bus home.

These policies are in place to provide a clear and uniform expectation for each student athlete.  Our first priority is the safety of the student athletes; this includes being accountable for each member of our athletic teams during away contests and while on the Welsh Valley campus.  Secondly, traveling on the team bus both to and from away athletic contests can foster an important aspect of interscholastic athletics; the relationships and bonds created both on the athletic field and subsequent bus rides during the course of a season with one’s peers and coaching staff.

Thank you in advance for your support and adherence to the above policies.

Respectfully,

Megan Kiczek

WV Athletic Director
